The Alberta Chapter of the IA (ACIA) is offering a Certified Auditor course & exam August 11th & 12, 2010 in Calgary, AB. The IIABC is referring its members who are interested in pursuing this IA Certification to take it through the ACIA or in the U.S. The IIABC is not planning to sponsor this course in BC in 2010.
Any IIABC members who receive their CLIA certification through the IA or ACIA may contact the IIABC office to be recognized also in British Columbia as IIABC CLIA Certified.
At the IIABC's 2009 Convention Pearse Walsh, Leader, Business Development, BC Safety Authority spoke and then listened to IIABC Members concerns about the difficulty they have accessing the Class LO, Low Energy Systems Electrical ticket due to the burdensome work experience required. Since then the IIABC Directors have received a letter which is has given them hope that the BC Safety Authority is open to working with the IIABC.
Pearce Walsh has since responded with a letter, dated May 5, 2010, saying " The current pre-qualification requirement - LO FSR class - is common to several segments of the electrical industry. Separate experience requirements for the Irrigation Industry would require the creation of a new FSR class, which we are willing to consider. We encourage you to make a formal submission to the BC Safety Authority...requesting a new FSR class and include details of the scope of work, the educational requirements, and the experience requirements for the proposed new class and any information your association proposes on developing your own training and qualification program."
The Directors will be working on this. If anyone has feedback for Paolo Munegatto, President IIABC, please email him at: paolo@prontoenterprises.com
