What's New

Welcome to the IIABC website.

HST Impact on IIABC sales

The Irrigation Industry Association of BC will now be required to charge 12 % HST tax on all courses and membership fees.

However, only 5% GST tax will be charged on publications sold, with 12% HST tax on shipping & handling fees.  The online checkout system is not changed over yet so in the interim please contact the IIABC office if you wish to purchase books.

To All users of the Irrigation Scheduling Calculators:
If you have been recently using the calculator you may have noticed that it has been giving some erroneous results. The reason behind this is that the real time weather station feeds that are received by the application are not feeding all of the data required to calculate proper results. The forecast feed that comes from Environment Canada is not providing Tmin information on some dates which then generates incorrect evapotranspiration values. Some stations have also not been reporting precipitation data. This problem is being looked into and will be corrected as soon as possible.

You can check the station data at http://www.farmwest.com/ to determine if the station you have selected is providing all of the required data. You will also then be able to see which dates to avoid.

New Certified Irrigation Scheduler (CIS) Course

The IIABC has developed a new Certified Irrigation Scheduler course to teach skills for field technicians to quickly be able to observe and assess an irrigation system's operation and set up an efficient irrigation watering schedule.  This course is NOT a Landscape Auditor Course.  It will however provide skills to cost effectively improve irrigation systems water efficiency.  The next course will take place at the IIABC annual Convention in November in Victoria.

New CIT-2 Agriculture Certification

The IIABC is also close to completing a new Certified Technician for those doing Agricultural irrigation installation and maintenance work.  The pre-requisite to this course is the CIT-Level 1 course.  This course will aappeal to those working on irrigation systems in plantings of a wide variety of agricultural crops such as vineyards, nurseries, tree fruits, field crops and so on.  Plans are to offer the inaugeral course at this year's IIIABC Convention in November in Victoria.

New!  Landscape Drip Irrigation Calculator - Users Guide

This guide has now been added to the website list of guides.  To see the list of guides click Resource Page Scheduling Guides

The IIABC with funding from the Canada British Columbia National Water Supply Expansion Program has developed a new agriculture irrigation scheduling calculator.  The calculator will determine an irrigation schedule for all types of agricultural irrigation systems and crop types.  The IIABC has also upgraded the landscape irrigation scheduling calculator to follow the same format.  The calculators use real time climate data from www.farmwest.com to determine an irrigation schedule and information on when to apply the next irrigation.

Users guides are being prepared that provide additional information and will assist users in selections made in the works tabs.  Several User Guides have been prepared both for Landscape Sprinkler and various Agriculture Irrigation systems.  A users guide for Landscape Drip is under development and will be added when completed.  The users guides can be found under the Resources / Irrigation Scheduling Tab.
