Job Posting Notice – Executive Adminstrator IIABC

The Irrigation Industry Association of British Columbia (IIABC) is a not for profit society that has been established to promote the interest and welfare of its members and the irrigation industry.  The business of the IIABC is to train individuals in irrigation and establish better irrigation systems and practices in the Province of British Columbia. The IIABC has an office located in downtown Abbotsford.

The position will manage a current membership exceeding 400 members, oversee the organization of an annual Convention and Tradeshow, education courses and administration of approximately 900 certification files. Education and training in irrigation and water management issues would be beneficial but is not essential.

  • You are self motivated and thrive on providing a good service to members of the society.
  • You are attentive and able to take direction from a board of busy people that are the decision makers for the society.
  • You are able to work with very limited supervision and direction and will be required to use considerable knowledge and judgement in your work.
  • You are able to work on your own and conduct the society’s work in an efficient and business like manner.
  • You are courteous and respectful person and are able to respond to a wide variety of requests from members of the society and clients.

The executive administrator is a full time position and will be required to supervise part time staff in the fall during the planning of the convention and the invoicing of annual membership fees.

The position will require some travel at times of the year to attend the convention, director meetings and certification courses put on by the society.

 

Salary and Benefits

An annual salary will be offered at up to $50,000 commensurate with skills and abilities.The IIABC Board of Directors will conduct an annual performance review.Annual salary increases will be based on the cost of inflation as well as performance.

The position will be entitled to 3 weeks of paid holiday time each year which must be taken in the calendar year.  Holidays can be taken at any time except the fall which is the busiest time for the society.

The incumbent may establish their own hours so a modified work week is possible if approved by the Board of Directors.Time off in lieu of overtime will be offered.  Some overtime is expected leading up to the convention in the fall.

The process for recruitment and training is as follows:

  • The candidate can hopefully start some time in the summer.
  • The incumbernt will be offered training materials and assistance from current IIABC members that are familiar with the operation of the society.
